The drawing being prepared on the block, the next thing to be observed, is the mode ot sitting at the table and holding the work. The block should rest upon the pad, at such an elevation as to allow the learner to sit erect while at work. Hold the block, not too tightly, with the thumb and forefinger of the left hand, so it may be easily moved around or turned on the pad. With the right hand the graver is held, with the handle resting in the palm. The graver is then pushed forward with the thumb and forefinger, guided by the thumb resting on the surface of the block, as in Fig. 34, or against the side as in Fig. 35.
